Pilates Movement Studio
Pilates is a system of
body conditioning aimed at strengthening the core
muscles of the body in order to better support
daily activity. It emphasizes elongation of
perpetually tight muscle groups while giving tone
and strength to weak areas of the body. Pilates is
executed by uniting body and mind. It involves
willfully teaching the body new movement patterns
which encourage more functional and efficient
movement. Pilates increases flexibility,
balance, and leads to a more streamlined
appearance.

Pilates, creator of the
Pilates method, borrowed and adapted movement
principles from eastern and western disciplines
in an effort to overcome his own childhood
illness and later to assist in rehabilitating
injured prisoners of war during World War One.
Many dancers and performers have used Pilates for
decades. In recent years it has been discovered by
athletes, models, and actors, who have publicly
credited Pilates conditioning with helping them to
achieve and maintain top form.
